Yeah, triple buffering kicking in would make sense.

Part of it can just be dynamic power saving features, and of course schedulers
(both CPU and GPU) messing things up. Our default 1ms fixed latency in the
commit thread is just to work around CPU schedulers being bad at precise
timing.
