Screenshot showing the bug: custom folder icon visible in content panel (right)
but missing in navigation tree panel (left). Folder "26 05 15 - Cambio Frenos"
shows default icon in tree, correct cus
In Dolphin 26.04.1, folders with a custom icon set via a .directory file do not
display the custom icon in the left-side tree/navigation panel. The icon
displays
correctly in the main content panel (right side). Once the folder is opened by
clicking on it in the tree, the icon loads correctly and remains visible for
the
rest of the session.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a folder and assign it a custom icon (via right-click → Properties →
icon).
2. Open Dolphin and expand the tree panel on the left to show the folder.
3. Observe that the folder shows the default folder icon instead of the custom
one.
4. Click the folder in the tree to navigate into it.
5. Observe that the icon now displays correctly.
Expected behaviour:
The custom folder icon should be visible in the tree panel without navigating
into it.
Actual behaviour:
The tree panel shows the default folder icon. The content panel shows the
correct
custom icon. Navigating into the folder "activates" the icon for the session.
Additional information:
- OS: Fedora 44
- Desktop: KDE Plasma (Wayland)
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7600
- This behaviour was not present before upgrading to Fedora 44 / Dolphin
26.04.1.
