Bug ID: 520475
Summary: 13 keys in password field displayed as ⅓ due to
unexpected diacritic popup
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasma-login-manager
Version First 6.7.80
Reported In:
Platform: KDE Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When entering the keys "1" and "3" in the password field at tle login screen,
the character ⅓ (U+2153) is displayed. After pressing "1", a popup similar to
this (https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-integration/-/merge_requests/2) or
this
(https://www.xda-developers.com/kde-plasma-6-7-will-make-typing-characters-not-on-your-keyboard-a-lot-easier/)
appears, so that the third option is selected, effectively entering "⅓" instead
of "13". This leads to a rejected password attempt. Similar case with other
keystrokes "d" and "1" will display a diacritic version of d.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to login screen by rebooting the machine (logging out does not seem to
have the issue)
2. (optional, bug will still appear if not) click the icon to display the
characters
3. Enter the keys "1" and "3" in the password field (normal keystrokes, just as
you would enter a password, so no long-press)
4. The character ⅓ (U+2153) will appear instead of "13"
5. Hence, login fails
OBSERVED RESULT
The character ⅓ (U+2153) will appear instead of "13"
EXPECTED RESULT
The characters "13" appear
