Bug ID: 520480
Summary: wish auto clipboard sync is a thing on android like on
other OSs
Classification: Applications
Product: kdeconnect
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Android
OS: Android 13.x
Status: REPORTED

DESCRIPTION
When clipboard synchronization is enabled in KDE Connect, copied text is
automatically synced between connected devices. This behavior works correctly
between Windows and Linux systems (the only other platforms I tested).
On Android, however, clipboard synchronization appears to work only in one
direction. If text is copied on Windows or Linux, it is automatically synced to
the Android device. But when text is copied on Android, it is not automatically
sent to other connected devices.
Currently, the only way to send Android clipboard content is by manually
opening the KDE Connect app and using the "Send Clipboard" option.
I would like Android clipboard synchronization to behave the same way as it
does on desktop platforms and automatically propagate clipboard changes.
Android seems technically capable of this behavior since other applications can
monitor or access clipboard changes in the background.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Pair an Android device with another device using KDE Connect.
2. Make sure clipboard synchronization is enabled.
3. Copy any text on the Android device.
OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing is copied to the connected device's clipboard. The clipboard only syncs
if the KDE Connect app is opened and "Send Clipboard" is pressed
EXPECTED RESULT
Clipboard changes made on Android should automatically sync to connected
devices without requiring manual action.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Clipboard synchronization from desktop systems to Android appears to work
correctly. The issue seems limited to Android -> other devices automatic
syncing.
