Bug ID: 520592
Summary: Link to location (URL)... created in smb: shared
folder opens in text editor
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First 26.04.1
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
If I navigate to an smb: shared folder and create a "Link to location (URL)..."
to link to a website, the link that's created opens in Kate rather than the
website. The same link (.desktop file) copied to a local drive opens the
website as expected.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Navigate to an smb: shared folder where you have write access (e.g. I chose
<smb://nas.local/shared>)
2. Right-click an empty space and choose "Create New=>Link to location
(URL)..."
3. In the dialog, enter: Name="KDE", URL="https://www.kde.org"
4. Double-click to launch the link that's created
OBSERVED RESULT
The .desktop file opens in Kate
EXPECTED RESULT
The URL opens in my default web browser
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The .desktop file contains:
> [Desktop Entry]
> Icon=text-html
> Name=KDE
> Type=Link
> URL[$e]=https://www.kde.org
If I copy the link file to a local folder (e.g. my home folder) it gives the
expected result
