                    correctly on executable files
    Classification: Applications
           Product: dolphin
      Version First 25.12.3
       Reported In:
          Platform: Kubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
After configuring "Open in application" setting from the confirmations tab,
double-clicking an executable file (files marked with x bit) opens it with the
first preferred application, and middle-clicking opens it with the second
preferred application.

However the context menu always shows "Open in application" as the top context
menu and the first preferred application as "Middle Click" entry inside "Open
with" submenu.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure Dolphin > set "When opening an executable file" option to "Open in
application".
2. Make a blank .sh file in a folder.
3. Right-click on the file > Properties > Permissions > check "Allow executing
file as program".
4. General > "Change..." > make sure it has at least 2 application preferences.
5. Click OK on every windows to close them.
6. Confirm the application preferences by double-clicking and middle-clicking
the file.
7. Right-click on the file and check the top menu and "Open With" submenu.

OBSERVED RESULT
The top menu shows "Run Executable", the submenu shows the first application as
"Middle Click" entry.

EXPECTED RESULT
The top menu shows the first application, the submenu shows the second
application as "Middle Click" entry.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Kubuntu 26.04 LTS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.24.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Also tested on KDE neon 20260514 live CD.

Due to Bug 519773, the step 6 (confirming the applications) only works for
script files.

Apparently the identical problem for image files has been fixed recently. (Bug
518365)
