This is a duplicate of bug 519107. Could you report a bug to Kubuntu/Ubuntu
about this? OpenCV is not a required dependency of KQuickImageEditor, but it is
strongly recommended and the CMake file for KQuickImageEditor sends a message
that it is recommended when KQuickImageEditor is not built with OpenCV. The
non-OpenCV stack blur algorithm used in version 0.6.1 of KQuickImageEditor does
not support alpha, which is why the shadows are black. This is considered our
bug, but it would be good if Kubuntu/Ubuntu changed their KQuickImageEditor
package to use OpenCV. Debian has already done this, so it may just be a matter
of waiting for an update, but things might move more quickly for you if you
report the issue to Kubuntu/Ubuntu.
