Bug ID: 520788
Summary: Option for more robust find menu, like Gnome Document
Viewer
Classification: Applications
Product: okular
Version First 26.04.1
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
I understand this is likely a difficult implementation, so I won't hold my
breath, but I thought it was worth bringing up.
The find functionality in okular is fairly basic. If I am scrubbing through
very long technical documentation, it is helpful to have a sidebar that gives
context to all instances of a phrase you are trying to find. Also, highlighting
all instances of the phrase in a different color either in the preview sidebar
or on the page would be great as well. Essentially, I am asking for an
implementation of the more robust find features of Gnome Document Viewer in
okular.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
N/A, not a bug, to reproduce use find on a document in okular and gnome
document viewer and see the difference in menu.
OBSERVED RESULT
Find only works on individual current phrases and doesn't show others on page
and also doesn't show a summary in the sidebar
EXPECTED RESULT
A summary of all instances of the find phrase in context on the sidebar like
Gnome Document Viewer and the ability to show more than the current phrase.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Fedora 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.26.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I believe I am running the current version of okular as there are no available
updates
