Reporting this bug because it is very annoying, I didn't find a solution after
some days of searching and similar bugs in the past are not quite the same or
are 'resolved' with no effect. In the meantime I will use Evolution, I guess,
but i really do want to use Merkuro which uses Akonadi.

DESCRIPTION
Cannot finish Google account sync with Akonadi.
I just needed a calendar and a mail manager, started with Merkuro and KMail and
went all the way through all of the KDE PIM services using Akonadi down to
Akonadi itself with the same result.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Akonadi (and all of its dependencies and additional libraries
needed to connect to Google services, including kio-gdrive and so on). Tried
installing from CachyOS repositories and from AUR. For me the behaviour was the
same.
2. Open Akonadi Console directly (or Merkuro, or KOrganizer, or something else
that is using Akonadi Services, same behaviour), add Google Groupware agent.
3. Press Configure, the Akonadi sends you to your browser (tried Firefox,
Brave, Chrome with same results) to configure your Google account and enable
access.
4. Finish the configuration, see the "You can close this tab and return to the
application now" message. Go back to Akonadi Console. In the dialog box it
shows correct list of my tasklists and calendars, so it has access (I guess).
Press Apply.
OBSERVED RESULT
Applying the configuration does nothing, it does not save the configuration.
Apply button stays active, and when pressing OK, dialog box is closing. The
Google Groupware stays not configured, showing "no username set" error.
Status: Online, Broken.
Status message: no username set.
EXPECTED RESULT
Google Groupware agent is set up successfully enabling me to work with
Akonadi-based PIMs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm suspecting some sort of internal error that does not allow Akonadi to save
its settings and finish the setup properly, but my knowledge here is limited.
Marking this as a major bug because it is rendering whole Akonadi ecosystem
pretty useless for Google users under some conditions.
