To aid in machine migration, or general "I liked it here, let's try it on this
other machine too", Kate should be able to straightforwardly import/export
_all_ the user configuration in one go.
Not only is this friendlier, but this plays nice with enterprise rollouts.
Sure, my personal machine has Kate on Ubuntu, but on the work Wintel machine I
have to use the MS Store install and are disallowed at an Intune level from
browsing certain parts of the filesystem. It's pretty hard to recommend Kate to
coworkers with a straight face saying "... and if you like it, just memorize
all your settings and you can use it at home too!" vs emailing yourself a JSON
or ZIP file.
