I never understood how to achieve the same navigation efficiency by other means. A few decades ago with Konqueror in file manager mode or even Windows Explorer, this seemed like the natural way to do thinks. But paradigms changed and somehow I stayed behind. I understand that some of my workflows are nowadays rather obscure, and interest in the folder panel has dropped significantly. So if there's little interest to implement this, this is understandable.
