I attached a test file, with a layer to compare with. Steps to reproduce: 1. Select the "Paint layer 5" (top layer, empty). 2. Use gradient tool with a distinct color (like red) with "Shape" option set to "Shaped". Threshold is 0, Reverse and Dither are disabled, Repeat is None. 3. You gotta click drag the cursor a bit to see the result the way you do gradients normally, but then the result is the same no matter how you do it. I get a little red triangle on the bottom right.
