Sorry, we are going to disagree! I would enthusiastically support adding ~/.cache and ~/.local/shared/Trash to the default exclusions. I would find it very sensible for Baloo to index all filenames and metadata (such as xattr tags) under $HOME, so that if you open tag folder you see all the files you've so tagged (not just those under ~/Documents, ~/Music etc etc...). That's probably a bigger job. However, I don't see restricting the folders indexed, as Fedora does, provides a lot of benefit. My rationale is a lot of the memes are now "well old", from my experience it's quite OK to leave baloo indexing in the background, in fact it does remarkably well nowadays. I do have a proviso here though, the system needs to be running systemd and have memory accounting enabled, otherwise the MemoryMax limits won't be enforced.
