Bug ID: 521117
Summary: kscreen-doctor outputs HDR peak brightness as SDR
brightness
Classification: Plasma
Product: KScreen
Version First 6.6.5
Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: kscreen-doctor
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
I have HDR enabled in KDE with peak brightness calibrated as 410 nits. In
display settings I have SDR brightness set to 50%. When I run `kscreen-doctor
-o` however, it correctly says my peak brightness is overridden to 410 nits,
but it also says the SDR brightness is 410 nits. The same can be observed with
`kscreen-doctor -j` (in the "sdr-brightness" property).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In display settings, enable HDR for a display
2. In display settings for the same display, set HDR brightness to 50%
3. Open a terminal and run `kscreen-doctor -o`
OBSERVED RESULT
"SDR brightness" and "Peak brightness" match.
EXPECTED RESULT
"SDR brightness" should be half the "Peak brightness".
