Only observed to date in 26.04.0 running on Debian forky. The bulk rename
functionality is not present in the other main version I have (22.12.3 on
Debian 12).
The main kind of operation I am doing is with geojpegs where typically I am
renaming a group of files whose names are 
1.jgw 
1.jpg 
1.jpg.aux.xml 
1.xml
and I want to change the 1 to a 2. The result is the extension disappears off
the first filename alphabetically, in this case the .jgw file.
