Bug ID: 521219
Summary: kscreenlocker: optional feature to autoswitch to DM
(auto switch user) on lock
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First master
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Screen locking
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
Feature request: an optional feature for kscreenlocker (as a setting in the
config or environment variable), so that when it is locked, there was an
automatic switch to the display manager (PLM, SDDM, LightDM, GDM, etc). As if
the user immediately clicked on the "Switch user" button.
The developers of some linux distributives have informed me that it would be
useful when the display manager they use was modified to support unusual
scenarios, like two-factor authorization in the FreeIPA domain with support for
OTP codes as the second factor, or using smart cards as a second factor, or
other things they need that are implemented only in their DM and so on.
Otherwise, all these modifications and settings need to be implemented in
kscreenlocker too, which they would like to avoid this way.
So, they want to be able to have feature to kscreenlocker automatically switch
to the DM when it is locked, and a user will unlock the session through the DM.
