            Bug ID: 521272
Summary: Warn users when adding a mount point point about the
                    optional-boot tag
    Classification: Applications
           Product: partitionmanager
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

So I am not sure if I did the task through Partition Manager, but it seems even
if I did I wouldn't have noticed a nice checkbox to prevent my FUBAR.

I'd like to propose a flashy warning when editing mount points in Partition
Manager.

Situation: I added a USB HDD to my PC recently as a workaround to some space
storage issues, and I was using it for a while, so I wanted it added to
/etc/fstab so it is mounted at boot for services to use. I added it to
/etc/fstab I think using Partition Manager as that is a nice easy way to do it
without remembering how to do things.

However, I didn't tick the "Don't prevent the system from booting if not
mountable" option as I didn't know this was a thing. I removed the drive this
morning because I was messing with things and then my system wouldn't boot.

End result: I spent a while trying to figure out why my system woudn't boot

Proposal:

Add a nice yellow or red (I'll leave the level of warning up to you) notice
when the mount partition is added or edited in the popup dialog box. This would
warn users that if the mount point or device is not accessible or any other
reason this device is not mountable, it will prevent their device from booting.

Having more users nice and tick the box that allows boot if the device can't be
mounted would result in less headaches for end users, even "power" users like
myself forget sometimes.
