There seems to be some background here:

It includes a discussion about "user facing" data appearing under ~/Snap as
part of the larger move to ~/.snap/data. I understand "user facing" as "worth
indexing". 

My gut feeling is that ~/.snap/data could be excluded, if you want something on
top of the "don't index hidden files/folders", as/when the change happens...
