Bug ID: 521320
Summary: Add per-panel custom background color override in
panel configuration
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.4
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Panel
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]

Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
Currently, panel background color is entirely determined by the active Plasma
Style and system color scheme, with no way to override it per-panel without
third-party widgets (Panel Colorizer) that work via hacks and break on updates.
Requested feature: a color property on PanelView that, when set, applies a
color tint/override to the panel background SVG independently of the theme.
This would be exposed in the panel edit toolbar UI via a color picker, stored
in plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc per containment, and default to
"none/follow theme" when unset.
I am willing to implement this and would appreciate guidance on the preferred
approach before starting.
EXPECTED RESULT
Customize each panel color individually without the need of third party
widgets.
