Bug ID: 521422
Summary: Option to suspend automatic brightness when window is
fullscreen
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.5
Reported In:
Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Power management & brightness
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
I wish that there was an option to suspend automatic brightness when a window
is fullscreen. Many fullscreen applications, particularly videos and games, are
sensitive to brightness and contrast - for example it is pretty annoying in the
middle of a fast paced game to suddenly be unable to see what is happening on
the screen because the sensor read a lower ambient brightness and scales the
brightness way down. Furthermore (and this is probably a bug in and of itself)
the change in brightness can make applications, particularly video players,
drop frames while the interpolated brightness change is happening.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable automatic brightness
2. Open a full screen application such as mpv
3. Exist in the world while using the computer
OBSERVED RESULT
The brightness varies wildly as the video plays
EXPECTED RESULT
The display brightness remains constant.
