            Bug ID: 521437
Summary: Wacom Intuos 3 doesn't register pen presses in Krita
as of Ubuntu 26.04 (works in X11 Lubuntu 26.04)
    Classification: Applications
           Product: krita
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Ubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
Component: Tablets (tablet issues are only very rarely bugs in
                    Krita!)
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
I am unable to draw with my pen in Krita. I tried a number of different version
numbers cycling through Snap, Apt, Flatpak and Appimage and it was reproduced
in all of them through XWayland. I can use the pen and tablet in other
applications like Gimp or Inkscape.

Important workaround is if I go in the tester app and I click on the mouse
while the pen is presses, the blue line for pen usage appears and my pen will
function normally. It draws and detects pressure flawlessly. If I click the
mouse and drag the mouse, I see a red line moving around as normal. I can draw
if I press on the mouse and drag my pen, though this workaround is clearly not
ideal or wanted.

The issue seems to only affect pen presses.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any currently available version of Krita on Ubuntu 26.04
2. Connect a Wacom Intuos 3 (I've seen reports of it affecting different
models)
3. Attempt to draw with pen.

Workaround
4. Left click with mouse while pen is pressed
5. Drawing with pen should function

OBSERVED RESULT
Pen doesn't draw

EXPECTED RESULT
Pen draws if pressed

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System Ubuntu 26.04
KDE Plasma Version: X
KDE Frameworks Version: X
Qt Version: X

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All drivers for wacom are up to date and it functions in other apps like Gimp
or Inkscape. I can use my tablet on X11 Lubuntu 26.04 without issue. This only
affects Wayland modes and compatibility to X11 Krita. The tablet isn't
supported or functional at all if Krita is booted in Wayland native, which
isn't a bug as its experimental still.

I've seen other similar issues and they were able to find some workarounds, but
I haven't been able to repro them. I believe they didn't work either and the
users just gave up troubleshooting. I've reviewed the duplicates suggested and
they don't seem to apply.

I'm currently setting up an X11 dedicated system in the meantime hoping this
issue is quickly fixable! Thanks so much for taking the time and reading my but
report. Feel free to reach out if I can help otherwise. :)
