Bug ID: 521500
Summary: Day/Night Cycle does not switch to light mode on a
morning startup
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First master
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Day/night schedule
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
With "Switch to Dark Mode at Night" enabled in settings, Plasma accurately
switches to dark mode at sundown, but after shutting down for the night and
booting back up in the morning, Plasma remains stuck on dark mode until I
manually force light mode in settings and switch back to automatic.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable "Switch to Dark Mode at Night" in Global Theme settings.
2. Allow Plasma to switch to dark mode at sunset
3. Shut down computer until sunrise
4. Reboot computer after sunrise
OBSERVED RESULT
Plasma stays on dark mode when booted long after sunrise, and long before
sunset.
EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma changes to light mode when booted after sunrise (or ideally, immediately
boots into light mode in these conditions).
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.26.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.0.12-201.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 48 GiB of RAM (46.9 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am aware there is a "Wait until idleness before switching" setting, which
could impact this switch if I'm immediately using my computer after startup.
However, I've had this disabled for months to no effect. Light mode does still
trigger if I'm logged in during sunrise, so this is exclusively a problem on
startup.
