It's not, currently, a mandatory dependency, in Fedora 44, nor was it, on
openSUSE TW (that's what I use on my LINXs), when, last, I checked, last year:

If, indeed, it's meant to be, I don't believe that one can blame a user for
uninstalling something huge, that isn't marked as a required dependency. I've
not been deliberately trying to break my OSes.
