Bug ID: 521521
Summary: ghosting/smear artifacts with chromium and electron
based apps on kde nvidia proprietary drivers (wayland)
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.6.5
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: compositing
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
On KDE Plasma 6.6.5 (Wayland), KWin 6.27.0, NVIDIA RTX 3060 (single GPU, no
iGPU), minimizing or moving a fullscreened native-Wayland Chromium/Electron
window (Opera GX) leaves a stale ghost of the window's previous title/tab bar
rendered on screen at its old position. It persists until something forces a
full repaint (clicking the desktop, dragging another window over the affected
area). Not fixed by KWIN_DRM_NO_DIRECT_SCANOUT=1, disabling the Blur effect, or
updating to the latest driver/Plasma. No relevant errors in journalctl at the
time of reproduction.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open chromium based app
2. minimize and unminimize with the drag to top shortcut (most reproduce able
way)
3. observe smear/ghosting
OBSERVED RESULT
smearing and ghosting on desktop
EXPECTED RESULT
no artifacts
