Full screenshot of the screen setup, showing the bug with Steam. The Display
Configuration screen is visible on the secondary screen.
DESCRIPTION
I have two monitors, a 1080p one and a 1440p one. The 1080p one is on the left,
the 1440p one (set up as primary) on the right, and both monitors are aligned
at the bottom.
When I launch some applications (not all of them! but the ones I checked with
xeyes seem to run on X11?), they seem to apply the vertical coordinates of the
1080p screen on the 1440p one. In some games (again, not all of them) it just
moves the game down and I have to move it back up manually. Steam normally
launches in maximised mode, but here as well, the maximised mode is squished
down, like it's using the available vertical space of the other monitor instead
of the current one. I can just re-maximise it just fine, but it will happen
again next time I launch Steam. Or the games having the issue. See screenshot
for the Steam example.
For sanity checks, I tried moving my taskbars (which were at the top on both
screens) down at the bottom, its default position, and suddenly the problem
disappeared, both for the Steam wrongly maximizing, and one game that I knew
had the issue (Vampyr through Proton on Steam).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setting up displays in a similar way (see display setup on screenshot), with
the taskbar at the top;
2. Launching Steam after setting it in maximised mode in the last session (or
any app being affected).
OBSERVED RESULT
Steam maximises in the lower part of the screen, using the exact space there is
under the taskbar on the *other* screen.
EXPECTED RESULT
Steam should maximise correctly using all the space.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.0.12-1-cachyos (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I don't know if it's linked, but I tested xeyes on a few of the apps and games
having an issue, and they do seem to run on X11 and not Wayland. Might be a
hint?
