Bug ID: 521646
Summary: Firefox not able to see built-in camera anymore
Classification: Plasma
Product: xdg-desktop-portal-kde
Version First 6.7.0
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
I thought this was a regression in Firefox (see
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2048619) but now I think this
might be an issue with xdg-desktop-portal-kde. Not 100% how to confirm this or
help debug, so please guide me here.
The main issue is that Firefox does not seem to see the built-in webcam
anymore. Chromium using xdg-desktop-portal-gtk works just fine. And firefox
with media.webrtc.camera.allow-pipewire set to False also works fine, bypassing
the xdg-portal.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Firefox and set media.webrtc.camera.allow-pipewire to True in
about:config
2. Start, for example, a room in https://meet.kde.org
OBSERVED RESULT
Firefox does ask for permission to use the microphone. It never asks for the
webcam. In the video settings the webcam is not shown.
EXPECTED RESULT
Firefox can use the webcam asking for permissions through the
xdg-desktop-portal-kde as in the past.
