Hm, interesting hypothesis. I do use sleep frequently. Which order of events exactly do you have in mind? I had my PC in sleep over night and when it woke up the display was broken. Pretty sure one of the notices was released during that time. Then I "fixed" it by switching to the Notices tab and back.
