Alternate characters option blocking in-cell dropdowns in LibreOffice Calc

DESCRIPTION
With Plasma Keyboard's Alternate characters popup enabled, keystrokes are no
longer recognized when an in-cell selection list is opened up in LibreOffice
Calc (so the user needs to scroll via arrow keys, PgUp/PgDn, or the mouse,
cumbersome with long lists).

Apologies if this is a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=521128
, I wasn't sure of the underlying tech of each and thought they may be distinct
root causes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In System Settings > Keyboard > On-Screen Keyboard, enable Alternate
characters: Show popup when holding a key
2. In LibreOffice Calc, create a cell with data validation criteria that
include showing a selection list (Data menu > Validity > Criteria > Allow cell
range, Show Selection list, Sort entries ascending), and add entries to that
data range
3. Open that selection list, either with the mouse or with Alt+Down (by
default), and start typing one of the selection list items

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT
The selection in that list jumps to the closest match for what's being typed
