Description:
After upgrading to Plasma 6 (specifically noticeable after the WirePlumber 0.5+
transition), systems using the Creative Labs EMU20k2 [Sound Blaster X-Fi
Titanium Series] (driver: snd_ctxfi) experience a complete loss of sound
routing upon fresh boot or when resuming from sleep.
The application (e.g., mpv, strawberry) shows active audio playback meters in
the volume applet, but no physical sound comes out of the default output
(Speakers / Analog Output Lineout).
The issue is strictly isolated to the KDE Plasma 6 environment. Running the
exact same system and kernel with XFCE or Cinnamon environments works
flawlessly out of the box.
The bug is temporarily bypassed only by manually opening the Plasma Volume
Widget, switching the active output port from "Speakers" to "Headphones 1" (or
"Headphones 2") and then switching back to "Speakers". This manual action
forces plasma-pa to reread the port tree and triggers the hardware state,
unmutilating the card.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot into KDE Plasma 6 session with a Creative Titanium HD sound card
installed.
2. Play any audio file. Notice the moving volume bar in the applet but complete
silence from the speakers.
3. Open the audio applet, change the Output Port to Headphones, then change it
back to Speakers. Sound immediately appears.
4. Put the computer to sleep and wake it up. The sound is gone again until the
manual port switch is repeated.
Expected result:
KDE Plasma 6 should correctly initialize and unmute the default routing port
(analog-output;output-speaker) on startup and resume events without requiring
user interaction.
