            Bug ID: 522049
Summary: Plasma Keyboard breaks German Layout E1
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: Plasma Keyboard
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
When the Plasma virtual keyboard is enabled, the physical keyboard layout
"German (E1)" does not work correctly. Specifically, the mechanism for
switching to Group 2 using AltGr+F is broken.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set your physical keyboard layout to "German (E1)" either via the OS
configuration or by enabling it in KDE System Settings.
2. In System Settings → Keyboard → Virtual Keyboard, select Plasma Keyboard and
apply the changes.
3. Open a text editor, for example Kate.
4. On your physical keyboard, press AltGr+F (this should activate Group 2 for
the next keystroke). Release it, then type "e".

OBSERVED RESULT
The character e is produced.

EXPECTED RESULT
The character ə should be produced (as defined in Group 2 of the German E1
layout).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Ubuntu 13
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.24.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2
Kernel Version: 7.0.0-22-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 228V
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.9 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: Intel® Graphics
Manufacturer: LENOVO
Product Name: 21Q6CTO1WW
System Version: ThinkPad X9-15 Gen 1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

AltGr+F does not switch to Group 2 in the German E1 keyboard layout when Plasma
Keyboard is active. Group 2 is a secondary group that changes the meaning of
all keys and is valid only for the next keystroke. When Plasma Keyboard is
active, this mechanism is broken for all keys in Group 2, not just "e".

Interestingly, if you change the keyboard layout in KDE to something else and
then back to “German E1,” the next use of AltGr+F works correctly—but only
once.
