            Bug ID: 522098
Summary: PlasmaShell crashes when not connected to "primary"
                    wifi
    Classification: I don't know

  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

Plasmashell repeatedly crashes and removes your taskbar, background image, and
widgets when your wifi is "wrong".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Disconnect from your "home" or "primary" wifi. For me that also happens to
be the wifi that I installed kde plasma on.
2. Wait. This bug does not always appear instantaneously. I find that it
usually shows up after ~10 minutes or if you restart/suspend-unsuspend your
device

OBSERVED RESULT

a crash handler popup appears repeatedly and will often create several copies
(I unfortunately did not get the chance to take a photo of these popups, sorry.
Perhaps, if I can get the bug to happen again I will post an image).

the taskbar, background, and widgets all disappear. The background is replaced
with a black screen. window, cursor, etc. themes still exist. Upon fixing the
bug, everything returns to normal (even if a shutdown was performed midway).

EXPECTED RESULT

Your taskbar should still be functional and you should still have widgets.
However, with this (what I assume is a ) bug that is not the case.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window):
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.24.0
Qt Version: 6.10.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am running on a dell precision with a date of manufacture likely around 2017
- 2020 (possibly as early as 2015, but most likely between 2017 - 2020).

I am able to temporarily* fix the issue by running
`kquitapp5 plasmashell && kstart5 plasmashell` (kstart6 and kquitapp6 don't
seem to be valid debs on ubuntu-flavored machines from the terminal output,
which is why I am running kquitapp5 and kstart5 plasmashell)
`systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.service`

* the bug will reappear if the screen is "reset" either by suspending the
machine / putting it to sleep or by performing a poweroff

I do not know if the bug will automatically resolve once the the "proper" wifi
connection is reestablished. I have been experiencing this issue when away from
home, and so my laptop is usually shutdown by the time I get back to a "proper"
connection.
