Bug ID: 522209
Summary: Clicking the Kate icon on the Icons-Only Task Manager
does not properly activate and give focus to open
application window
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.4
Reported In:
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager widgets
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
When running Kate and using the Icons-Only Task Manager, you cannot click the
Kate icon on the task manager widget to properly activate and give focus to the
already-opened Kate application window.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Icons-Only Task Manager widget is working on panel. Configuration: 1)
Group: **BY NAME**; 2) Clicking Grouped Tabs **CYCLES THROUGH TASKS**; 3)
Clicking active task **MINIMIZES THE TASK**; 4) Show only tasks: **FROM THE
CURRENT DESKTOP; FROM THE CURRENT ACTIVITY**
2. Start Kate. Kate window is active and has the input focus. The Icons-Only
Task Manager shows the Kate icon; clicking on it alternatively minimizes and
restores the active window (the expected behavior), but it only works for ONE
CYCLE. After minimizing and restoring the window once, clicking on the icon
again won't do anything.
3. Start another application window, e.g. Firefox. Task manager now shows two
icons: Kate's and Firefox's. Clicking on Firefox Icon correctly minimizes and
restores window alternatively anytime the icon is clicked (correct and expected
behavior). Clicking on the Kate icon when another application window is active
DOES NOTHING.
4. Now use the keyboard shortcut (Alt+Tab) to activate the Kate application
window, bringing it to the top and giving the input focus to it.
5. Click the Kate icon on the task manager a few times. As in Step #2, cycling
window state from minimized to restored works only once.
OBSERVED RESULT
You cannot make Kate the current active window by clicking its icon on the
Icons-Only Task Manager. You have to use the keyboard to switch to, and
activate Kate's application window. If Kate was already the active window,
clicking on its task manager icon minimizes the window when first clicked, then
restores the window when clicked again but without it getting the input focus;
subsequent clicks do nothing.
EXPECTED RESULT
Clicking the Kate icon on the Icons-Only Task Manager should activate its
application window, bring it to the top of currently displayed windows and
giving the input focus to it, just as other task manager icons do.
