Bug ID: 522220
Summary: External monitor brightness not syncing with internal
display's power-saving dimming over USB-C
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.0
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Power management & brightness
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
I have a external monitor (DELL U2724DE) for my laptop connected via USB-C.
When my laptop darkens the screen to save power the other screen stays fully
lit. When I press a button to get the laptop internal screen to normal
brightness again the external one darkens. Sometimes the monitor gets bright
again after some time or a notification or it stays darker until the internal
display goes darker then it usually gets brighter again.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a external monitor (I only have one via USB-C).
2. Wait until internal display darkens for power saving
3. Move pointer or press button (The internal display should brighten again)
OBSERVED RESULT
The screens are out of sync. One of them can be darker the other one brighter,
switched or both bright or darker.
EXPECTED RESULT
Both screens being in the same mode, either power saving by dimming the screen
or bright.
