           Summary: Regression in adaptive sync
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: wayland-generic
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
There is a regression in adaptive sync after Plasma 6.7. Screen flickers in
certain situations such as gray-ish backgrounds. The easiest way for me to
replicate it consistently is to open Telegram and click on a picture, creating
a gray transparency effect around said picture. Moving the mouse around causes
the screen to flicker. It can also be reproduced in Pragmata in certain
settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Turn adaptive sync to automatic or always
2. Open Telegram and select a photo
3. Screen flickers when moving mouse

OBSERVED RESULT
Contrasting colors such as deep grays with bright colors seem to cause
flickering with movement. Issue applies no matter what other settings you use
with regards to color depth/accuracy or HDR on or off.

EXPECTED RESULT
Prior to 6.7 flickering was imperceptible.
