            Bug ID: 522278
Summary: Dragging virtual desktops in Grid Overview rearranges
virtual desktops instead of moving windows
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First 6.6.4
       Reported In:
          Platform: Kubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: 1.0

DESCRIPTION

When in Grid Overview (default shortcut Meta+G), one can move the windows
around to other virtual desktops (VDs for short). If one presses and holds the
background of a VD instead, one may move all the windows in that VD
simultaneously. The animation implies that all the windows get moved to another
VD; however, it seems the way it is currently implemented is that the virtual
desktop itself is moved, shuffling the names around.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a 3x3 virtual desktop grid with the VDs named in the following
fashion:

Row 1: Alpha 0, Alpha 1, Alpha 2
Row 2: Beta 0, Beta 1, Beta 2
Row 3: Gamma 0, Gamma 1, Gamma 2

2. Open some windows on VD "Beta 0"
3. Open Grid Overview
4. Hold and drag the background of VD "Beta 0" and move it to "Alpha 1"

OBSERVED RESULT

The new arrangement of the desktops is:

Alpha 0, Beta 0, Alpha 2
Alpha 1, Beta 1, Beta 2
Gamma 0, Gamma 1, Gamma 2

This can be confirmed in KDE System Settings/Window Management/Virtual
Desktops. It now shows that Row 1 contains the desktops "Alpha 0, Beta 0, Alpha
2" and Row 2 contains "Alpha 1, Beta 1, Beta 2".

EXPECTED RESULT

The arrangement of VDs on the 3x3 grid is unchanged; the open windows on VD
"Beta 0" are moved to "Alpha 1".
