            Bug ID: 522289
Summary: "Show Virtual Keyboard: With Touch, Tablet, and Mouse"
does not apply until plasma-keyboard is manually
                    restarted
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: openSUSE
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: virtual-keyboard
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
When I enable and apply this new option, the virtual keyboard does not appear
immediately, not even after switching or reopening apps. Instead, what helps is
killing the existing plasma-keyboard process — that makes the option come into
effect instantly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in to a Plasma Wayland session where the virtual keyboard behavior is
set to the default “With Touch and Tablet”.
2. Change it to “Show Virtual Keyboard: With Touch, Tablet, and Mouse” through
the KCM.
3. Try clicking on System Settings' own search field or e.g. Firefox's address
bar.

OBSERVED RESULT
The virtual keyboard does not appear until you terminate plasma-keyboard via
the System Monitor or killall.

EXPECTED RESULT
The virtual keyboard appears instantly.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20260623
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.0.12-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This only happens for the first change of this option after login. If you turn
mouse activation off and on again without a logout in between, it applies
instantly. But this is what users turning it on for the first time will
experience, leading them to believe the new option is broken.
