            Bug ID: 522419
Summary: [Wayland] Disappearing screen pointer and disabled
screen pointer input when lifting the pen from a
                    graphics tablet pad
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First 6.7.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Neon
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Keywords: wayland-only
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

DESCRIPTION
This happens in Wayland sessions only.

When the pen is lifted outside the pad sensing volume, the screen pointer
disappear, and the pointer input is deactivated.

If the tablet has been set up to map a portion of the pad to the whole screen,
and the pen is put back inside the pad sensing volume, but outside the pad's
mapped area, and the pen is then moved into the mapped area, the screen pointer
does _not_ return, and there is _no_ pointer input. It doesn't matter if the
pen tip is touching the pad or not.
For instance, no text will be selected in a multi line text file in Kate, even
if the pen is moved up and down inside the pad area mapped to the text lines.

To get the screen pointer and the pointer input back, the user has to lift the
pen outside the pad sensing volume, and then put the pen back into the pad
sensing volume inside the mapped pad area.

In X11 sessions the screen pointer is always visible and its input is always
active. It behaves exactly like a mouse.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Map a portion of a graphics tablet to the entire screen.
2. Move the pen outside the pad sensing volume.
3. Move the pen inside the pad sensing volume while it is outside the mapped
pad area.

OBSERVED RESULT
The screen pointer disappears when the pen goes out of the pad sensing volume.
The pointer input is disabled.

EXPECTED RESULT
The screen pointer stays on screen when the pen goes out of the pad sensing
volume, like with an ordinary mouse.
The screen pointer input stays enabled, like with an ordinary mouse.
