Bug ID: 522433
Summary: Notifications abruptly appear and disappear if the
sliding animation is disabled
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.1
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: Notifications
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
In Plasma 6.7, the previous fading animation when notifications appear and
disappear has been replaced with a slide in and out from the edge of the
screen. If this effect is disabled, the notifications simply pop in and out
with no animation at all, unlike previous versions.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In System Settings > Animations, uncheck "Slide Plasma notifications in and
out."
2. Ensure "Fade popups in and out" is checked.
3. Wait to receive a new notification.
OBSERVED RESULT
New notifications will now pop in and out abruptly with no animation,
regardless of whether fading popups is enabled.
EXPECTED RESULT
If "Fade popups in and out" is checked, notifications should fade in and out as
they did in previous versions.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Arch Linux, kernel 7.0.14-arch1-1
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I believe this to be a regression because the checkbox which controls whether
Plasma popups fade in and out previously applied to notifications in versions
prior to 6.7. However, with the introduction of the sliding animation,
notifications have seemingly been completely decoupled from this existing
setting with no way to control it.
