Log from Krita from the last couple months with multiple failures to save
included
DESCRIPTION
I usually start drawing digitally by taking a picture of a physical handrawn
image (usually a jpeg), opening it in Krita, and drawing my lineart, rendering,
etc over it as the background.
A while ago, Krita has started flagging an issue with the saves and layers.
Eventually I determined that the layer for the imported image was causing the
bug, so I began deleting the layer including the imported image after I was
done drawing over it, which would usually resolve the issue. Then, sometimes it
would continue not allowing me to save after I had deleted the layer, so when I
encountered the error, I would copy my non-imported layers, open a new file,
and paste them into a new canvas, which would allow me to save. However, this
is now no longer working, either. Obviously, this is extremely frustrating, as
when the bug occurs, I can have already have spent hours and hours working on
it, and am forced to lose all my progress. This issue does not occur every
time, so sometimes I think I'm in the clear for the bug, continue working on my
art, and then later attempt to save and am unable to.
Sometimes it will again start allowing to save later after an indeterminate
amount of time with no further changes. Unclear why.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open an image in Krita instead of making a New image
2. Create new layers over it
3. Attempt to save, and/or export image. (Will generally NOT occur the first
save attempt; usually happens after multiple prior saves of a work and
progress.)
OBSERVED RESULT
Errors regarding saving, including but not limited to: "Could not save merged
image" (even if presumed "merged image" (imported background photo) has been
deleted from the file), something about "Krita does not have permission to save
the file", "unable to create backup file", "the file could not be copied",
"cannot open file for writing", mentions of a RGB/metadata layer issue (even
when a new file has been created matching the RBG layer information of the
original layers and copied layers over).
EXPECTED RESULT
A normal saved file.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Autosaves generally seem to work(?) despite not allowing me to save, but when
attempting to save the restored autosaved file, it will again give an error.
Also, updated version sometime in the middle to attempt to resolve issue; issue
persisted, but did provide new errors while saving.
