I have an Xperia 1 VI and since i got it it's always had a tablet icon. I assume there is a rule somewhere in code based on screen resolution. The resolution on this phone is 1080 x 2340. Additionally, I think this might be an issue from the android app component, not the desktop app, because you can see on the app while opening the left panel that the kde connect app thinks it's a tablet even before reaching any other device.
