The volume and microphone icons have distortion or artifacting. It can also be
seen on the sliders, and practically all the icons to the right if you zoom in.
DESCRIPTION
In applications that use Kirigami, in certain areas, there is a kind of visual
artifacting without a loss of quality for some icons. This happens to every
application style that isn't either Breeze or Fusion (for example Oxygen, any
Kvantum theme). It only happens when fractional scaling is applied, using
Wayland. It has been happening going at least a year back during Plasma 6. It
is distro-agnostic from what I've experienced.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Switch to a non-Breeze/Fusion theme (Oxygen for example.)
2. Use an Icon pack like oxygen to make it easier to see.
3. Apply fractional scaling on a Wayland session.
4. Observe selection bubbles, the circles on sliders, or most of the icons to
the right in an app like System Settings.
OBSERVED RESULT
Icons in Kirigami-based applications display visibly jagged/torn edges, rather
than smooth. This is distinct from the icon blurriness reported in other
tickets (e.g. BUG:391315, 518041, 519129, 408215) — the artifacting here
appears as hard, torn-looking edges rather than soft blur.
EXPECTED RESULT
Icon edges should render smoothly/cleanly, consistent with how they render on
100% scaling or as seen in other Qt/GTK applications on the same system.
