kde network manager
DESCRIPTION
Hi,
this is feature request that I have just recently discovered it would be cool
to have.
I was at friend's house and he gave me paper with QR code to connect to his
WiFi. I used KDE network manager and click on the icon which says: "Scan a QR
code to connect to a Wifi network".
After that I believe Qrca had opened. I have scanned the QR code, and it
recognized valid netowork, but after that it had showed me password prompt
dialog for the network. It worked after I have typed the password.
It would be nice if Qrca could recognize password as well from a QR code. To my
understanding, QR code is translated to some form of the string, and later on
this string is parsed. If this string contains password as well, I think the
Qrca should be able to extract it and use it to connect to the network without
a need to ask for a password.
I used the same QR code with Android phone and it has connected without any
issue and it has never asked me for a password.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. use any valid QR code which contains network name and password
2. scan the QR code
3. observe that Qrca is asking for a password
OBSERVED RESULT
Qrca is asking for a password
EXPECTED RESULT
Qrca should extract password from QR code and automatically connect to a
network.
