Middle click contect menu

DESCRIPTION
I'm not sure if this is the correct component, so please accept my apologies if
I've reported it under the wrong one.

After updating today, it looks like one of the components responsible for the
middle-click action in the text context menu was updated, but it introduced a
serious bug.
The middle-click action for opening files with the preferred application is
completely broken. In my file associations, both Bash scripts and plain text
files are configured to open with KWrite. However, they are always opened with
Kate, regardless of the configured preference.
The application priority and the middle-click setting are completely ignored.
Here is a screenshot showing that the file should be opened with KWrite when
using the middle mouse button:

However, it always opens in Kate instead.
I also checked the File Associations settings, where KWrite is listed as the
highest-priority application, but the behavior is exactly the same.

I even tried setting KWrite as the default application through the Other
Application... menu, but that didn't help either:

Absolutely the same - the file is opened with Kate. If I comletely remove kate
from the file associations list or even unintall it, the file just doesn't open
with middle click, even though KWrite is still listed among the available
applications:

As shown in the last screenshot, KWrite is the only application left to choose
from. However, the system completely ignores it, and clicking the middle mouse
button simply does nothing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set Kwrite as a default application for bash scripts and text files.
2. Try to open the file with middle click.

OBSERVED RESULT
The Kwrite association is completely ignored and the file is being opened with
Kate. If you remove Kate from the list or even uninstall it, the system still
doesn't use Kwrite and completely ignores it and nothing happens at mitle click
event.

EXPECTED RESULT
The file should open with Kwrite.
