Bug ID: 522946
Summary: Outlook opens Recent Directory, not desired file
Classification: Applications
Product: okular
Version First 25.08.1
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: PDF backend
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Outlook Classic (newest) opens the directory of recently opend outlook PDFs,
not the desired file. To quote Claude:
Outlook doesn't open the attachment directly from the email. It first extracts
a copy to a temp cache folder (something like
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook\<random>\),
then tells your default PDF app to open that temp file path.
If Ocular is a single-instance, tabbed app (meaning it only ever runs one copy
of itself and adds new files as tabs), the handoff from Outlook can trigger a
"restore session" behavior instead of a clean "open this one file" command —
especially if Ocular has any kind of "reopen previous tabs on launch" or
"remember session" setting.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any Outlook Classic PDF attachment with Ocular set as default app for
PDFs
2.
3.
OBSERVED RESULT
Shows images of all recently opened files
EXPECTED RESULT
Just want the current attachment
