edited screenshot showing what is displayed on my monitors
DESCRIPTION
after updating linux kernels a while ago (previously 7.0.14), i’ve been
experiencing a weird bug in plasma where my second monitor is cropped,
specifically to the top-left quadrant, and pinned to the bottom right of the
physical display.
attached is an edited screenshot showing what is displayed on my monitors
(spectacle displays both virtual monitors as next to each other and not
cropped, as intended).
this does not occur in SDDM or GRUB, and my mouse cursor can still appear in
the void area (albeit remapped to the relative location on the plasma desktop
itself), so i have to assume this issue is plasma-specific. for completeness, i
use wayland exclusively.
i haven’t made any configuration changes, and booting into kernel 7.0.14 seems
to correct the issue for now. this all happened after a system update which
fetched the new kernel (among many other package updates, i presume).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect at least two monitors
2. Boot with kernel >7.0.14
3. Log into Plasma desktop
OBSERVED RESULT
the second monitor is cropped to the top-left quadrant, and pinned to the
bottom-right of the physical display.
EXPECTED RESULT
all monitors should present in full and without cropping.
