Bug ID: 522993
Summary: "Hide from screencast" option should have an option to
not block screenshots to replicate 6.6.
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.2
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: screencasting
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Not sure if this should go here, spectacle or somewhere else but here goes.
I had been waiting for the new plasma 6.7 version for a while so I can control
screencasting on Windows automatically via window rules and I have to say it is
fantastic.
Whoever it appears that a new feature was added, which is blocking screenshot
programs such as spectacle from capturing the window.
This was not a feature in the original pull request
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/8442 with the reason stated
by the author that the use can just minimize the windows. But it was later
configured to include screenshots here
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/9171
Personally I believe this should be a separate toggle or have the ability to
disable the screenshot exlcusion system-wide. I do actually want to be able to
take screenshots of hidden apps. But I do not want it visible to software such
as Discord when sharing my display. Like the original pull request.
In my opinion, the user should have the choice to optionally minimize their
privacy for convenience of screenshotting.
Thank you for reading.
