The problem is that ALL new notifications pop up in queue, waiting for one on the screen to vanish to pop up the next one, and the next, and so on. If there are 15 notifications from, let's say Instagram, Chromium or whatever service that can wait for your computer to resume to properly put and inform you about your new notifications, only 5 notifications fit on your screen at once and a notification takes ~10 seconds to disappear, your screen will be flooded for half a minute only showing you notifications that you've most likely have answered on your phone and the only way to stop those are toggling the "Do not disturb" switch hoping they don't show up right after you untick it. Of those new notifications that flood your screen, you may try to click the X button for each one but that will just make another of the new notifications that were waiting in queue to pop up. This is what I face every single time I let my laptop sleep for long enough. Personally, my ideal solution would be to only pop up the latest N notifications that fit on my screen at once and put a little banner below like "N more new notifications" that on clicked would open the notifications applet if I were to check the rest of the new. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Turn on the notifications for a website you interact with a lot or anything that naturally triggers a lot of notifications; in my case, it is Instagram. 2. Put your Linux system to sleep for a long time, enough to receive many new notifications. (I usually let it sleep overnight) 3. Wake it up, unlock and watch how, one to one and then the rest, every single new notification pops up on screen. OBSERVED RESULT Absolutely ALL new notifications invade the screen. If you woke up the laptop to handle something urgent, you will have to deal with those losing precious time.
