# Summary
**macOS: Holding Shift while scrolling over the timeline ruler always moves the
playhead forward**

## Steps to Reproduce
1. Open any project.
2. Move the mouse cursor over the **timeline ruler** (the time scale above the
timeline where scrolling normally moves the playhead).
3. Hold the **Shift** key.
4. Rotate the mouse wheel both forward and backward.

## Expected Result
* Scrolling the mouse wheel forward moves the playhead forward.
* Scrolling the mouse wheel backward moves the playhead backward.
* Holding **Shift** should only increase the movement distance (or scrolling
speed) while preserving the scroll direction.

## Actual Result
When **Shift** is held, rotating the mouse wheel in either direction always
moves the playhead **forward**.
Without holding **Shift**, the playhead moves correctly in both directions.
This issue only affects scrolling over the **timeline ruler**. Scrolling over
the timeline itself behaves normally and continues to zoom the timeline as
expected.

## Additional Information
* The issue appears to be **macOS-specific**.
* The same operation works correctly on Linux.
* I have experienced this issue across multiple Kdenlive releases over several
years.
* The issue occurs on both **Intel Macs** and **Apple Silicon Macs** (currently
tested on an M1 Pro).
* I have reproduced it with multiple mice, including a **Logitech M185**, so it
does not appear to be related to a specific mouse or driver.
* The issue is reproducible **100% of the time**.
I have attached a short screen recording demonstrating the issue. In the video,
you can see that without holding **Shift**, the playhead moves correctly in
both directions. However, when **Shift** is held, rotating the mouse wheel in
either direction always moves the playhead forward.
