You own a Plantronics BT600 headset which communicates via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth USB dongle which is plugged into the computer. 2. When you open the Audio Volume widget, USB dongle uses its own internal circuitry to its communication with the headset from SBC mode to A2DP mode, ruining the audio quality for non-voice-call purposes. 3. The reason for this is the widget creating a VolumeMeter object to monitor for microphone volume, which the USB dongle interprets as an attempt to record audio, because it assumes that would only happen on a video call, so it "helpfully" switches to A2DP mode. --- >From https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_9127197_en-US-1.pdf, it would appear this is the way the product is inherently designed to behave. It feels a bit like the product is inherently defective for your uses. A manual option to disable the recording level would indeed probably resolve the issue. But I don't think it would be wise to add; this option would be useless for everyone not using this specific semi-defective product. Until we get more reports of similar products that implement the same inadvisable Bluetooth profile switching, I think the risk of adding this option is too great, as it would just be a foot-gun for everyone using audio devices that don't suffer from this hardware flaw. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
