So, from memory I did save too an SSD and the project had been trying to save
for probably around 10min (I don't have the original file for obvious reasons)
and all the drives where idle and I think that Krita probably was sub 1% on the
CPU.

Not sure if I was scaling up a file for print or for conversion for the lacer
cuter I was working with. I think that it probably was the laser cutting so
the original image was 3k × 2k and then to extract the gray tones I had to
upscale it 10x to have spare resolution for dithering.

The main issue still is that Krita does lock you out from any regular recovery
modes like layer export etc while a save is occurring so if it gets stuck you
probably have a corrupted save file and the most likely way to manage to export
any layers are too screenshot and stitch things together.

I have one guess on what might cause some of the save freezers and it would be
a cloud folder syncing or eg automatic backup and the file is being accessed
which Krita is saving
